‘Mara sa Tiko-i-Toga’

May 20, 2011

The prospect of change at last has inspired one of our bards to produce a masterpiece entitled ‘Mara sa Tiko-i-Toga’, meaning Mara is in Toga, taking hilarious liberties with the name of Colonel Tikoitoga. An English translation has been added to share the fun that’s made of the Mara escape and the embarrassment to the tin-pot dictator.

The $320 million road debt will grow

May 2, 2011

The Bainikhaiyum regime is boasting about the work it’s going to do on roads but what they’re not saying is that ALL of the funds for roadworks are borrowed. The $320 million they’re so proud of will all have to be repaid and if our dollar is devalued again, we’ll be repaying a lot more than $320 million. When the regime knocked back the IMF loan because they wouldn’t submit to the sensible policies of the IMF, they guaranteed that there will be more devaluation.

WHO was at royal wedding?

May 2, 2011

As much as we love and admire the pro-active and erudite Fiji freedom blog, realfijenews, we have to castigate them for a miss-call with this posting: “The Sir James Ah Koy network has flown his excellency the most illegal tin pot dictator of the Fiji Islands Josaia Voreqe Bainimarama to the Royal Wedding of William and Kate. Bainimarama will be seated before God in the Church of England at the right hand of the Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard.” Sorry! That’s nonsense! Sir James Ah Koy’s network may well have looked after our dictator in many respects, but getting him an invite to the Royal wedding certainly wasn’t one of them. The United Kingdom, the cradle of modern democracy, would not invite the evil, corrupt and chronically dishonest Frank Bainimarama to the opening of an envelope, let alone a royal wedding!

Naivalurua doesn’t get the joke

May 1, 2011

Once again the Fiji Police Force are trying to make us think they’re upholding strict standards when they announce a Labasa police officer is under investigation over his decision to cut the hair of several youths during a community awareness visit in Bua. Ben Padarath was beaten to a pulp by RFMF officers and Naivalurua is standing around with his hands in his pockets like it’s nothing to do with him. He may be able to dismiss earlier beatings, but not this one, which happened while he held the responsibility for upholding the law.

It’s official! Frank’s a dictator!

April 12, 2011

Folks, we can only assume the censors were asleep on the job because a major feature article in the Fiji Times referred to our self-appointed leader TWICE as being a “dictator”. The article, a profile on the emerging rugby star, Henry Speight, was reprinted by the FT from the Canberra Times. Speight plays for Canberra’s Brumbies. There’s a link below to the FT but in case the story gets taken down, you can still read it at the link to Fiji freedom blog, Coup Four And A Half. No doubt for some in Fiji it may have come as a shock to discover that mainstream regional media refer to Bainimarama as a dictator, not just the blogs. And why do they give him that tag? Simple. He IS a dictator!

Regime’s answer to bad roads – buy special vehicles!

April 11, 2011

The military regime knows that people are sick of finding they have no bus service because their roads have potholes the size of moon craters. What’s their answer: buy new buses that they say are made to run on bad roads. What this tells us they have no intention of improving our roads. We just have to get used to it.

Loss of trust

April 6, 2011

We at FDN are extremely grateful to 3FIR commanding officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Jone Kalouniwai. Why? Well, obviously without realising it, he has told the world the truth about the Fiji military’s understanding of the way the ordinary people of our beloved nation perceive the RFMF and its specific activities. Otherwise, why on earth would he need to publicly caution people “‘not to panic” when his troops exercise in full battle gear on the streets of Suva? And he has also revealed that he believes his soldiers are behind in their training to handle emergencies. We would like to ask: training for what type of emergency? Surely he’s not referring to the “emergency” that he and his troops would face if the ordinary people decided to make known their objections to the brutal reign of an incompetent, no-school, tin-pot dictator!

MSG meeting stuff-up

March 31, 2011

As Helen Hughes reports in a preview of today’s MSG leaders meeting in Suva, things have not gone the way the dictator might have liked them to. In fact, as she reports, the so-called “summit” would be farce if it were funny. Describing Bainimarama as “the incipient Colonel Gaddafi of the Pacific,” Hughes says the dictator’s clear purpose is seeking regional and international endorsement. For example, Indonesia and East Timor were invited to be observers at this summit. Normally, winning Indonesian attendance should be a feather in his cap. But we don’t think the dictator has yet twigged to the fact that the only reason Indonesia has turned up is to shut down the Spearhead Group’s very vocal support for Papuan independence in Irian Jaya. This could land the dictator bang smack in the middle of a particularly nasty diplomatic stuff-up. At the end of the day he might wish he had kept Indonesia right out of the meeting.

A joke on the junta

March 29, 2011

One would think that a report detailing the plotters who allegedly attempted to topple the dictator would be serious business, but the following is too funny for words! According to Fiji freedom blog, Coup Four And A Half, the police have told the DPP that the plotters were: Roko Ului, Mohammed Aziz, Pita Driti (all RFMF), Tevita Lesu, SSP Tabakau, Tevita Uluilekeba (all Fiji Police) and Epeli Ganilau, the former Minister of Defence. The funniest bit is where the blog reports that while former police commissioner, Esala Teleni, was supposed to be also on the list, he is yet to be included because the questions that were sent to him remain unanswered! Then there’s the bit about the dictator visiting George Speight in jail and being told off! Folks, while the Bainimarama dictatorship is on one hand a brutal and cruel imposition on our beloved nation, on the other hand you have to admit that its childish incompetence often provides a much needed belly laugh.
