The Modi visit has resulted in India agreeing to a line of credit to fund a co-generation plant for FSC. This is what Abdul Khan has been pushing for all along. Let’s hope that any project that goes ahead has a tender that’s all above board and any companies that have associations with Abdul Khan don’t get the inside track (like with Rewa Dairy deal). It just seems incredibly risky. The price we get for our sugar is going to fall, so we have to up the efficiency of our industry in a hurry or they’ll have a co-generation plant and no cane! Farmers won’t plant if they’re not paid enough and the amount FSC can pay will drop if the price we get for sugar falls.
