New Commissioner, Groenewald, has shown that he’s going to be the boss of the FPF. He’s re-organised the top. The big change is the return to prominence of Henry Brown as Chief Administration Officer. In this role he’s responsible for the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Intelligence (IB), Internal Affairs and Prosecutions. Brown was caught up in all the intrigues that have plagued the FPF since Teleni replaced the last real policemen to run the force professionally. Having taken his time, Groenewald has worked out that Brown is a competent professional. But the appointment is only temporary. Groenewald has promised that this position, along with the positions of Acting Deputy Police Commissioner Director Plans “will be advertised internally as well as externally as soon as possible.” Is it too much to hope that the era of plots and backstabbing is over?
