Where is the sugar industry going?

FSC CEO Abdul Khan is upbeat about the future of the sugar industry following Bainimarama’s win but his comments about the past are a worry. “One needs to realise that the policies and agreed strategies with the government has brought us to this level of recovery in the industry,” Mr Khan told the Fiji Times. Can he be serious? The industry has been cut in half since 2006. Let’s hope there is some real reason to be confident sugar has a future.
