Secret ballot will this fix front-runner

FRONTRUNNER ELECTION 2014 C4.5

How accurate are the polls that show Frank is the front-runner?  Journalists who asked about voting intentions found a lot of people did not support Bainimarama but did not want to to be quoted.  Frank wants people to think he will be staying in power so they have to continue to fear him. We all know of civil servants, academics, journalists and businesses who’ve been punished for speaking out against the dictatorship.  We must remember one thing and make sure everyone understands it – you must use the secret ballot to get rid of the dictator who rewards his close friends but punishes anyone who speaks out against his decisions.

You guys don’t get it it, do you?

We are so concerned about 43 Fijians being held by some terrorists.

What about the biggest terrorist of them all – holding the whole FIJIAN RACE hostage – with the threat that Fijian race as we know them is on the verge of being wiped out.

Thirty years from now what will you tell your grandson when he asks you what is VKB. Most of your prime land will be gone – the tourism land to foreigners, the commercial land to the Gujeratis and the prime agricultural land to bigger Agri-Biz types Indians, the Mahogany will gone with Indian taking their cut.

Sure, you can either do your teitei and fishing in the rural areas and you can live in squatter settlements in the Suva-Nausori corridor – or in some new settlement (Ghetto) in the Lautoka-Nadi Corridor – working in the tourism industry and bell boys and Hotel Porters – with the smile and the “Bula” – or work as a store clerk for some Gujji outfit and on your way home, buy a tin of fish for dinner.

A proud warrior race, with a history that goes back at least 4,000 years, will be reduced to a generation of Fijian Girmitiyas – their spirit totally broken, no land, no culture….Sad, really sad.

Well, they are already working on the New Fijian Economic Policy.
It is time to make a stand – you guys have been on the sidelines for 8 years.

Just look around – look at the Native Americans, the Native Alaskan, the Hawaiian people, the Aborigines, Then there is the other side of things – look at the Middle East, Rawanda, Bosnia, Solomon Islands – we don’t want that either.

So its time to take a stand – do it the easy way – vote these guys out – and work with the Indian and get a real democracy going.

Another bullshit story by Victor Lal on Fiji leaks about Mary Bainimaramana buying the RBf governor’s official residence. Victor needs to stop playing politics and focus on facts not rumours and heresay.

His story about fiji airways leased to another company makes me laugh. If only he had checked that the company name is the fijian world for plane is a company only by fiji airways.

  5. KB Says:

    Hey Proud Fijian……Think!!!!!!

The Airbuses are owned and leased to Fiji Airways by Waqavuka Financing Limited, a company registered in Dublin, Ireland in the business of renting air transport equipment.

    1. The planes are not owned by Fiji Airways.
    2. It is some Irish registered company that owns and leases it. Those Irish….they just happened to chose the Fijian word for a plane (bird boat) as their name and they are in the business of renting air transport equipment – so is not their only venture.

So the German Bank loaned the money to Waqavuka Financing Limited and they bought the planes, they own it and they have leased them to Fiji Airways. I guess when the money is paid off, Fiji Airways gets the planes.

Waqavuka Financing Limited is a wholly independent special purpose company based in Ireland, owned by neither the German banks (KfW IPEX-Bank and Helaba) nor Fiji Airways.

SO WHO OWNS Waqavuka Financing Limited?

And what is in it for them?

Could if be that with Fijian name and all – maybe there are some Fijians who are behind this company…..interesting, very interesting!!

What we know so far is that FNPF “loaned” $200 million of our money for the planes – and what security to do we have.

We do not now what the planes cost – all they told us was the catalogue price of the planes – which is about US$200 million.

Because it’s a commercially sensitive deal, they wont give us the details.

And it is true – It is very likely that both Airbus and Fiji Airways probably have a contract that forbids them from dissemination of this information.

So we will never know how much WAqavuka paid for the planes and how much we paid Waqavuka – and where did the difference go – if there was any.

BTW – who in Fiji negotiated the deal – was it some local firm.

Pls go and ask any corporate lawyer and they will tell you that waqafuka is a shelf company that was set-up becuase Fiji airways has borrowed funds from the german banks. As such, they had to set up a company in europe to settle disputes.

Anyway, the name waqafuqa or plane is not some name the irish would give.

Also, go and check records when air pac bought the boeing planes. They opened a shelf company in cayman islands.

Victor is smart, but in this case he is wrong. Suggest that you ask richard naidu or another suva corporate lawyer.

  7. Sant Says:

Agree with comments that this election is 2 horse race between FF and sodelpa.

The turnout at NFP rally in lautoka of less than 100 with more children and nfp officials is a clear example that people do not trust the party.

Nfp has the weakest leader in its history, someone who chickened out after 2 days when he was appointed leader some years back.

  8. KB Says:

Hey lawyer guy – this is not about law, it is about scams. And when it comes to buying planes, just look at the history of scams.
Planes are delivered and immediately sold and leased back. The discounts on purchase is great – few years ago the Thai’s bought the A330 for 50% discount. We are talking about 100s of millions of dollars – and we are dealing with a regime that is not accountable to anyone.

Now you go figure, Mr. Lawyer guy. and BTW Lawyer – did they not teach you in your Business Organization class in Law School that it is called a “Shell” company or corporation – not “Shelf”….writing it once, I would let it go for typo, writing it twice – maybe you ain’t no lawyer.

BTW – do you know what the deal here is – Is Waqavuka a operating lessors – did they buy the aircrafts from manufacturer and is now leasing them to Fiji Airways.

OR – The banks could have lent money to Fiji Airways with the loan guaranteed by the planes. The bank can repossess the aircraft if the airline stops paying its loan. And FNPF had put the $200 million down payment.

Dude..there is more to this story than meets the eye – and this sure is well above our pay scale too try and figure it out here.

  9. KB an expert Says:

KB, you seem an expert on politics in Fiji. Instead of sitting on the fence and commenting on all poitical parties and who may or may not win, why you didnt you contest the election. Or is it that you are one of those politicians who loves to hide under the pretext of an observer and gets satisfaction of making ground on blogs since in real life it is very hard.

  10. Kele Says:

    KB

Pls go and ask Victor lal to do his research well about waqavuka company again.

Its a fiji airways company set up because of the loans it has taken from the german banks. Why would the german banks lend if the planes are leased. If you can’t get this, I must say you are blinded by your anti-regime hatred. Also, go and read the statements by the CEO of air Fiji.

  11. PDP Says:

Can Prof Wadan pls enlighten us on the following:

    1. Prof Biman was leader of NFP for 2 days post the 1999 thrashing of the party and if it showed that Biman was and still is “green” for politics and that he is better of teaching at usp.

    2. If prof can tell us how he would rate a former dean of economics who makes a cardinal mistake of saying that one would be able to buy 2 chicken instead of 1 if vat is reduced by 5%.

    3. If the prof could pls highlight if the debt under qarase almost doubled between 2000 and 2006;

    4. If the Capex between 2000 and 2006 was lower than the increase in debt;

    5. If MPC and FLP did the right think of joing the IG after 2006?

  12. KB Says:

Guys, purchasing planes – whether it is Airbus or Boeing – there has been scandals, bribery, kickback going of for a very long time – Ranjiv Gandh was implicated in one of the deal.
Prices of the plane – they get it for 20% to 60% discount.

I would not have trusted a Qarase government or even a Chaudhry government when it came to a deal like this……so do you think we can trust these guys.

The important thing now is WHAT IS OUR BEST POSSIBLE ALTERNATIVE to this military regime.

I will hold my nose and vote for a SODELPA/FLP coalition.

Then when we have a democracy we can all take sides in the next election.

We are at a cross roads – the Fijians, as a people may not be the same in 30 years if things do not go their way. As for the Indo’s they will just migrate.

  13. PDP Says:

    KB

Are you saying planes bought under SVT, alliance and SDL, the Air Pac officials and Govt ministers filled their pocket?

  14. kumar na baku Says:

    sotia ni viti QARA LEVU

  15. KB Says:

Hey PDP – first goggle something like “aircraft and Bribery”
Once you find out how this industry work, then look at our current regime and also the corrupt governments that we have had in the past.

    Then …you go figure.

NOW…going forward, once we get rid of this regime, our goal should be to work on a government that will work for the people of Fiji – Fijians and all others.

As they say, we deserve the government we get……it is our fault that we have allowed this situation to exist in Fiji.

It is time for a change.
