What planet is Abdul Khan on?

Abdul Khan is talking up spending $20 million to create a passenger rail service from Sigatoka to Ra. Meanwhile the Fiji Times is reporting on cane farmers in Nadroga who’ve left the industry because of the high cost of transport after they lost rail transport. These farmers could contribute to our failing sugar industry if they had rail transport for their cane but all the FSC boss can talk about is carrying passengers in 2016. What planet is he on? It looks like he can spin any story and use it to get money out of the pockets of the gullible Minister for Sugar.

I have said it before, Abdul Khan is the dumbest CEO I’ve come across. With FSC mills already running well below their capacity and the company losing money down the drain, and surviving on borrowed money, Abdul is now talking about another venture. Come on Mr dumb CEO, fix your Mills first, return production to pre-coup levels before embarking on another project. It is funny that Minister Natuva has jumped in on Abdul Khan’s dreams. FSC railways are not meant for passenger carrying trains. They are not safe. If you look at its own records, it will show the number of rail truck smashes per day on these lines which confirms it is a safety hazard for passengers. I am not an engineer but I know that trains that carry passengers run on a much wider track than that of FSC’s railways. To spend $20m on this project and ignore FSC’s existing and continuous problems is stupidity at the highest level.

too right this guy is a big dumb fck to much bullshit and dumbo manasa and friends are sucking the shit up

passengers on freight trains- what a bull shit proposition- they will go broke putting in safety systems and signals to comply with international stds- less money for farmers and land owners again

ab-dull needs to be sacked and take his crooked ways back to wellington where he was doing shit that is why his missus kicked his ass out

If Khan is willing to spend $20mill on providing passenger train, on what basis is this proposal based on, may I ask.

If it is based on the popularity of old CSR free train..is Khan planning to provide free train???? If so, that is impossible with FSC IN INSOLVENT POSITION NOW, only kept afloat with uneconomic subsidies, unlike FSC days when sugar was lucrative for Fiji and was the top revenue earner for Fiji…..and was able to provide free passenger service to the cane farmers community.

If on user pay, what’s the proposed fare level to make it economically viable and worthwhile?…which districts to be serviced???….many areas are now without train service and previously had train services, as rails had been removed legally or illegally. Scrap metal stealing of rails is a thriving business.

$20mil is absolutely insufficient to fund revival of passenger train, given cost of trains, upgrading of deteriorating lines and extra maintenance.

So it is impossible to fathom Khan’s thinking, intelligence and objectives in spouting off his uncontrollable mouth to announce his irresponsible pie in the sky lunacy….has this guy got a superior officer who should be slapping him across the face and sacking him now????? He is not worth the chair he sits on in his lob.

DId this guy go to school????. I would question his qualification right then. What a dumb arse. He must have too much of that shit Yaqona the night before and woke up with this brilliant idea of a passenger rail for the west.

Now one wonders where ones perception and thought process was when throwing in ideas and making plans like this numbskull. The country needs to make money in order to fulfil all her role in delivering to the needs of her people. FIRST THINGS FIRST.

I would say build a proper, reliable rail track first for the sugar industry which would in return provide employment for the people. Fiji does not need a passenger rail system because her bus service is very efficient. This guy ABDUL KHAN needs to return to his sugarcane farm and start thinking about going back to school. I also would like to question the qualification of the ones who employed this DUMB ARSE.

We all still remember Khan’s stupid idea of co-generation, which like the current casino saga, could not get off the ground. Co-generation of electricity using bagasse from the Mills is totally reliant on sugar cane production. With the extremely poor cane production, there is no way co-generation will succeed. The present sugar cane crop barely supplies enough bagasse for FSC’s current electricity needs.

In one of his press releases, Khan said he was hoping to return FSC to viability in 2020. Is he mad? We are still in 2013 now. So this means FSC will continue to run at a loss for the next 7 years. Who will pay for this stupidity? Can’t he make drastic changes immediately? Like cutting executive pay and benefits which they enjoy, as a start.

  7. Konakia Says:

News this morning in NZ, As below shows the current debate on bus vs train passenger services ,,,,many train services both cargo and passenger have been cancelled due to economic viability…..especially passenger train services have been withdrawn in many places eg…Auck-Wellington route:

“Bus lane system may be a better option.

Wellington’s mayor has thrown her weight behind a better bus system for the capital after her preferred light rail project blew out to nearly $1 billion.
A $207-million bus rapid transit system, with dedicated bus lanes between the central city and Kilbirnie, has been identified as the best option following an 18-month study.
It would cost nearly a quarter of the $940m price tag for a brand new light rail system.
The third option looked at was more peak period bus lanes and giving buses priority at traffic lights, estimated to cost $59m”

SO WHAT IS KHAN ON ABOUT IN HIS CRAZY IDEA ON INTRODUSING PASSENGER RAIL SERVICES IN WESTERN VITI LEVU. It has to be justified on passenger volumes resulting in higher revenue from fares…..is this the case in Khan;s proposal??????

Fiji is light years behind the rest of the world…just like this government they think they are smarter than the rest of the world.
    so democracy…maybe 2024 September?
